I just replaced a header gasket which was leaking. On the first startup it was smoking quite a bit. Not a colored smoke, just smoke. It even smelt a bit like metal. It stopped after about 30 seconds. The ticking I was hearing before I replaced it is gone, so I'm pretty sure it's fixed. Is this normal of a new gasket? Does it smoke as it seals the gap? Thanks!
I thought someone would have an answer to this quick! I'm assuming it could be burning off oil and dirt from my hands, or some coating they put on the gasket.
