I'm new to this "EFI/TPI" world!! I'm curious to what kind of flow #'s any of the "TPI" intakes have? Short ram or long ram? stock, modified stock, siamesed tuned port? Any info would be greatly appreciated!! I've got an 85 vette, and I'm considering using the stock drivetrain(L-98 - 4+3) in my 55 Bel Air. I build carburated race engines, and I'm very comfortable with caburation. I just don't know if the "TPI" intakes will support high rpm/hi horsepower, like carbs will. Any suggestions or ideas?
Re: Does anyone know flow # for tpi intakes? (sinistervette)
The numbers I have seen posted by others on here was 200 or 225. TPI is not designed to support power above 4500 rpm. The runners are too long and the ports are too small. The superram takes the hp limit up to 5500.
Re: Does anyone know flow # for tpi intakes? (sinistervette)
TPIS has it's "Insider Hints" book that hasa great deal of air flow numbers in it that you are looking for. As mentioned, a L98 TPI will not support high rpm power due too the long (17in) runner length. There are a good deal of options in aftermarket intakes that will allow higher rpm levels. A sorted out TPI motor will give you much better part throttle driving and fuel economy, as well as excellent hp and tq. . If you are going for all out hp, then you can probably do better with your extensive carb knowledge. Another option for your 55 are the systems that use conventional style intake manifolds with fuel injection and a 4bbl throttle body. You would need to convert to a later speed density ECM (vice your 85 MAF setup) or get a stand alone EFM package, but those would certainly improve high rpm hp if you wanted. Good luck.

Thanks for the input, guys. AquaMetallic94LT1, what type of intake are you using? What type of rpm/hp are you making? Sound like some quality componants, are you happy with your results? : :seeya
