Default C4 climate control issue

Hello everyone,

My 88 is having an issue with the climate control and I have yet to find an answer to my problem. Everything works find on it except for the blue button that turns the temp down. I can turn the heat up but not back down. I have tried taking it out of the car and cleaning the contacts and that has not worked. I was wondering if anyone has had the same issue or knows how to fix this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hopefully Cliff Harris will chime in but it is most likely your AC/Heater programmer located right above the gas pedal. To be sure you need to check to make and sure your air blend door is still attached to the blend door motor. Remove the Blower control switch located on top of the heater box on the passenger side of the engine. Shine a flash light on the door and use a long object that will fit in the opening and see if the door can be moved by pulling or pushing at the door. If it is disconnected the door will be very easy to move. Some women can fit there arm into the opening, just a suggestion on that one. Let us know about the door first.

I have the C68 electronic air conditioning if that makes any difference? I tried looking for the air blend door and I am not exactly sure how to locate it. I looked all over and couldn't find it. Also when I tried cleaning the contacts I used a pencil eraser to clean them. Would you recommend using a rubbing alcohol or denatured alcohol to clean them?

This photo shows the air blend door. This unit is a heater core removed from a 87. To see this door you have to find the blower control switch ( I don't have a pic) located on the passenger side on top of that big plastic housing. There are 3 - 7mm screws and 2 wiring harness plugs attached. remove both harnesses and the 3 screws and a big sensor will come out of a hole in which, with help from a light, you will see this door. See if it swings freely, a long screw driver or breaker bar will do. If the door does not move then your problem is the Programmer.

This is the programmer.

Do you mean that the temperature shown on the digital display does not go down when you press the blue button?

You can see the temperature blend door by taking the blower control module out of the evaporator housing. This guy:

Yes, it will not go down at all. So it is stuck at 75 all the time.

I had the same issue except most of my buttons did not work. This is a quick fix and I took it apart and cleaned it and put it all back together in 2 hours.
