Default S-10/vet radiator Low coolant sensor

I am putting a after market vet radiator in a chevy s-10 conversion. My question is, does anyone know how I would wire up a rely for the low coolant sensor. I can't find a lot of info on the wiring for those on a mid 80's corvette. I'm somewhat good at wiring but just would like some help from you guys that has messed with them before. My radiator has the port for the sensor. I have a new sensor and would like to hook up a indicator light on my dash. Any help would be appreciated.

If it's a single spade type probe retained by just two tension clips it sounds like '86 - '89 LOW LEVEL and it's wired like this:

Name: LOW COOLANT.png

The original part number for the module required would have been GM 22533547

The low coolant sensor module is an interesting little piece. It uses an oscillator oscillating at a certain frequency that is connected to the sensor. When the coolant level drops below the sensor the frequency changes and turns on the low coolant light.

Not something you could duplicate with a relay.

I wrote up an article on the module a few years ago:

Thank you guys very much for the replies. looking at the wiring diagram, does this sensor work as a ground? So meaning, when there is anti-freeze in the radiator, it competes the ground circuit?

Cliff explained the operation of it in "great detail" did you read it? A single wire sensor mounted in an original 'plastic tank'?

You could try a GM 10096163 2 wire sensor and see if it fits the radiator. You never actually identified the radiator or answered my question when I asked if it was a single blade type connector.

There's no assurance that the "after-market" product uses or has the capability of installing the correct parts. What was the radiator part number? What is the part number of your sensor?

There are a few level sensors that use similar sealing systems but the retention is different on some also.

I have a related question about low coolant sensor. What if after market radiator doesn't have port for the sensor like the stock. Do you do without the sensor? Or drill a hole in the new radiator? Captainricks

I would think you would "DO WITHOUT". It would depend greatly on how the radiator was constructed, your talent and I'd think without a "hands on" it's difficult to comment.

What radiator brand and part #? For what year car?

I noticed mine still worked after I removed the ECM so I thought it was just a relay. Good info. Some super sharp guys on here !

I don't see a brand name, but it is from Corvette America. It is like OEM but has metal side tanks instead of plastic like the fractory. If I don't use the low coolant sensor is there a way to deactivate disable so I don't have the Low Coolant light on the dash?
