Default Finally On the Road Again

Well we finally got my son's 89 TPI running again. I want to thank all that helped us. We have one problem we are working on. On early cold starts the car is throwing a check engine light and when we had a mechanic check the code it threw a 33 code. He said it was a maf sensor that was slow and the idle slowly changes up and down. The check engine light goes out after he started driving. I read where it can possibly be cleaned by using a spray can of Mass air flow cleaner. Anyone have experience with this problem? Hope he does not have to buy a mass air flow sensor Napa wants almost 400 dollars for a new one. If I looked for a new one are the camaro and firebird ones the same?
We only were able to replace the head gaskets and had the heads shaved valve guides and seals replaced. Added Delphi 21# injectors and the car runs better than before. It was good for us to do most of the work together but it took a long time one day a week. We both learned alot. He had never done anything on cars before short of changing oil and filters.

Do a google search for Corvette Recycling yards and check on the price for a used one. I like www.vette2vette.com as he guarantees his parts and will replace with another if you get a bad one.

I suggest checking the MAF connections and related wiring. A corroded connector pin can cause your symptoms. Maybe contact cleaner would be more effective than MAF cleaner in your case.
