Regular brake lights work, but third light doesn't any ideas on how to correct or look for? Wire going to light is not hot.
This is a coupe or a 'vert? There's differences when troubleshooting. The first check for either should be at the stop light switch but then I believe I would do some things differently.
There's a LIGHT BLUE wire coming off of the SLS at the brake pedal. Check that with a test light or meter, if it has power at the SLS then go to the ABS unit in the rear compartment. The LIGHT BLUE wire supplies a 12V feed to also the ABS unit so check that wire at the ABS unit also. If you have power there with the pedal depressed then the problem is between there and the lamp.
Your next check would be at the lamp connector or the ground for the lamp that is under the halo trim above the right hand seat.
I don't have an '89 FSM but I can't imagine it being any different for that lamp.
