My service ride control light is on, however I only have a history codes.
- Module 1: c12
- Module 4: H44 (lean o2 sensor)
- Module 9: H72 (serial data failure)
A vacuum leak was found so the lean condition should be fixed, but I have not figured out why H72 is set. Disconnecting the battery doesn't seem to clear the history codes.
Go to autozone they can hook it up to a scanner they cannot clear the codes but will turn their head while you push the button.
I doubt for his OBD1 car but maybe. The AZ here I believe has OBD2 capable scanning devices. I've been told that and have never asked. I interpreted from the OP's user ID it was likely an OBD1 car. Maybe I missed something?
Module 9 is ABS/ASR? I don't believe AZ can do that for any. If it is actually module 9 and the clearing doesn't work using the DIC procedure and you don't have an ABS/ASR IND light - why be concerned? It's history.
RIDE CONTROL isn't diagnosed in or by the DIC and that requires a completely different procedure.
With the paper clip jumping A and G in the ALDL, try this:
When the codes sequence ends, press the TRIP RESET button until 4.0 is displayed in the module number area. Then press the TRIP/ODO button until 4.7 is displayed in the module number area. Press and hold the ENG/MET button until “—“ is displayed. This will clear any ECM codes.
Then press the TRIP RESET button until 9.0 is displayed in the module number area. Press the TRIP/ODO button until “9.7″ is displayed in the module number area. Press and hold the ENG/MET button until “—“ is displayed. This will clear any ABS/ASR codes.
Turn the key off, wait ten seconds, turn the key back on and check for any codes.
Pulling the battery cable did not reset the history codes, tried that several times. Autozone? I would trust those guys to even hook up a scanner to my car....
WVZR, thanks....I found the procedure on how to pull SRC codes. Basically grounding pin C on the ALDL and counting the flashes of the SRC light.
Pifo, i'll try this when I get home from work later thanks for your help!
Try O'reilly's. They had an OBD1 scanner, and believe it or not, seemed to know what they were doing with it! I hate most chain stores, but O'reilly's does alright by me.
They were unable to clear any codes though. The scanner said something about requiring a specific procedure involving a fuse. I checked online, but couldn't seem to find what it was talking about.
From what I've researched, just disconnecting the battery for at least 10 seconds should do the trick. I'm interested to see what you find. Good luck!

Thanks to the forum, the codes are cleared. Pifo's method worked flawlessly and honestly I should have read the FSM more carefully, it was in there.
SRC was diagnosed to be:
-code 23 (loss of speed singal) which is triggered by the key being cycled on/off 3 times with no start.
- code 31 (left front out of position).
I'll dive into 31 when I get some time, but at least it's running good in the meantime

Is this method good for all C4s, or only certain years/models?

Jumping A and G is only for 1990-1993
For later C4 corvettes, I think you can delete codes the same way but not sure which conectors to jump in the ALDL

It is possible, in my 1995 with obdII plug, just with paper clip and pressing right buttons, i would assume, even your should be.. Which year?
