Ok....i am at lunch today and i looking at my charger and tensioner and i notice my tensioner bouncing?? so i look deeper and see my bottom underdrive pulley (crank) bouncing or it looks like it is loose? so i reached down and pulled on it up and down and it seemed solid but it is hard to tell? But what could cause this besides it being loose? is it possible to have the crank bounce??? i am not familiar with building a small block?
Tensioner bouncing around a little is normal. So is your crank pulley going up and down at regular intervals, like the pulley is bent or not fully seated on the dampener. Can you see the crank bolt in the center and tell if it's moving? Is the dampener moving around too? Does the engine seem at all unbalanced?
Also- how rough is your idle? it's not just the whole motor moving in the mounts is it?
well i dont have a smaller pulley on the crank it is the stock one...But it reminds me of lets say a lose pulley or something? But when i look at the timing meter (when setting the timine at TDC) the balancer seems to say to spin fine (no bouncing) but the pulley bolted to that seems it moves up and down? but i thought i would get your guy opinion:D thank let me know if you guys think of something else and i will take that pulley off this weekend and check it!
Hey at least your balancer, crank snout, and forward main bearings are ok!
Yeah the balancer spins nice and smooth... it kinda reminds me of a bent rim and it is a wonder i have not thrown a belt when i put the smack down on those Stangs :D
