I have a 1996 C4 and fuel injector issues. I am concerned if my gas tank is rusted. But I have had difficulty learning if my tank is made of metal or fiberglass. Do the tanks become eroded? Any help appreciated. Thanks R Woolley

Just take off the fuel door then the apron and pull the pump and see best to run the gas down if you can. And yes they crud up.

Take out the fuel level sending unit, as antfarmer2 suggested. That will tell you a lot about the condition of your fuel tank. It's pretty easy to do. A Torx bit to get the fuel lid off and a 10mm socket for the fuel level sender bolts. Get a new gasket before you take it apart, as it will probably break if it's the first time it is taken apart.
The C4 Tanks are made of VERY thin steel. I would remove your spare tire & storage tray. I highly recommend inspecting the tank. I have experienced small pin holes just big enough to smell fuel and create condensation. In 2 of my previously owned C4's and my current. I simply used S.S. scrub pads. Cleaned the area. Then patched with 5min Epoxy Putty. Problem solved...
