where would i find that ? now be nice :D how would i get to it, if i need to remove anything i need instructions as i have zero knowledge working on electronic cars, used to the old stuff.
In the engine compartment is your ECM over above the battery. Unscrew that, flip it over and take off the cover hiding the memcal. Unclip the memcal and look through the window on the plastic (probably blue) cover. There should be a little white/silver tag on the EPROM that has it.
I'll presume youhave an early C4. So you prlbably have a 165 ECM.
You are looking for the small panel that covers the CalPack in the ECM.
i.e. Find you ECM. Easiest to remove form the car. Unscrew the two screw that hold on the small ~2"x4" cover in the middle of the case. Vowla,... that blue thing is your CalPack. Look thru the little round/oval opening in the blue cover. There will be your BCC code. If you flip the 2 levers at the top and bottom of the CalPAck, it will pop out. In this state all is relativly safe. If you decide to pop the blue cover off, (it is best not to) beware of ESD (static). The original PROM is soldered in. Don't try and pop it out.
if the prom is soldered in, how would i replace it when the time comes? i hope this ain't one of those should take 5 minutes but since yours is soldered now the job takes 2 hours! TIA Bro

You don't. You could...And many have...But due to popular demand, one of the denizens of 3rd Gen has produced an adapter that plugs into your ECM and allows you to put *both* your MemCal and a new EEPROM into it. The ECM will read the new BIN off the EEPROM, while still retaining the ability to read the "limp-home" chip(s) off the MemCal.
A 90 Vette should have a 727 ECM. (First of the SpeedDensity cars.) 256K PROM. That ~12"x10" metal finned thing mounted above your battery, is your ECM.
The Moates adapter seems popular. I have not used it.
