I added the "HELP" because my wife leaves on business in 2 days. Friday my car had trouble, the starter was only clicking like it would if you had a dead battery. I show11.7 volts and fans and lights work well. After I would try it 8-10 times it would work just fine. Stater (with cylnd) installed a month and a half back. A few time it's run when I turn the key but no hooked up gear wise good and would just spin. I'm limited on what I can do.... never was very good and a bad ticker now.
Make sure the connections are tight and clean. Might just have gotten a bad battery.
Checked, seems tightly connected. I noticed that one of the many times I tried to crank it my miles per gallon, distance to empty dropped to 1.8 to 35 miles to empty. Just filled up.

seems to have plenty of juice but i'm charging the battery anyway.
A yugo still needs a battery. Don't blame the car.
You seriously think it's the battery? 11.7 or so is what it's always read. I'll have to look and see how to even get the battery out...Interior lights and a/c fan seem at full strength.
Check the negative battery cable connection on the side of the block above the oil filter.
Check the positive battery connection on the starter solenoid. Since work was done in this area it's a prime suspect.
Just bought a battery I'm changing in the morning (pain in the butt) Old one appears to be 5 years old. Needs one anyway. No Jack stands and a bad ticker...limited on my ability. Wish I'd tried this kinda stuff when I was young. Of course no Vette when I was young either.
Battery replacement is very straight forward and simple. DO NOT MAKE IT more complicated than it needs to be.
Here's a couple videos. I've never watched the second one. The second one might make most of us smile a little. I watched the first minute or so and I added it "just because". Disregard his tool suggestions and just use the "right stuff".
Well I spent 1 1/2 hours changing the battery an NOTHING!New battery is reading 11.9 but at this point who knows, electronic may be screwed too. Took soooooo long because some idiot put a bolt that holds the battery down that had a square head. Nothing fit it, had to inch it along with about 3 different tools. No floor jack or stands so noway to get underneath and look further. I guess I'll ride my 4 wheeler to work and hope the doughnut shops are full.
Take the car to autozone or other and have them check the bat and system properly.
Battery change and still 11.7. Had it towed in this morning and it was the security system, kind of. still have to use a key with a chip but between the ignition and the next spot that wire hooks up it wasn't getting juice. Weird though, security system usually kills everything, this time electronics were turning on under the hood... I could here a/c compressor and a few other things make noise. BUT now I have 13.2 volts.

VATS disables the starter and prevents the ECM for firing the injectors. It does not affect anything else.
