It will work, but that hood is pretty heavy to lift up without them..I have one large strut on my 89, and without it the hood is a bear to lift.....Also it could cut your arms off if it fell without the struts to support it........WW

Mine has the scissor lock and I'm pretty sure it can't get any heavier, I'm a big guy and if I don't do it right it'll take me with it lowering it, two hands to open and close already.
Replacing the struts will make it much easier to lift...Trust Me....Before with my old strut I had to lift it to get it open, after I replaced the strut, one finger would get it up half way, then it would open the rest of the way itself.....WW
I replaced mine two days ago and the old ones were junk. Made a huge difference in opening the hood. Hopefully my hood support will be here in a couple days and I can mark that off my list.
