Default 90 ZR1 steering column wire help

Coming out of the steering column under the dash is a small 2 wire harness, wrapped in ORANGE casing (not yellow like SIR). Both wires are white, small plug on the end, can't find a corresponding plug & I've been scouring my FSM to no avail.

Anyone have a clue?

TIA

Unknown, this is clients car that he just bought at an auction... Just got LCD back on line to check CCM codes. FSM shows wiring for resister to be Purple/wht & wht/blk...

Wait.... I have CCM out hanging & traced wires, those two are CUT off. Might be where that connector went.

Thanks!

I suspect it's the vats connector. Depending on whether the PO bought a pigtail or made their own, there's the other end that comes down from the right over the tran tunnel from behind the dash. Should have the other end of the connector (if it wasn't cut off) with something plugged into it. I suppose they could have programmed it out of the ECM but then there's no reason to disconnect the connector AFAIK.

Here's some commercial bypass pigtails, that's what you might find:

I suspect you could use an ohm meter and see if you have continuity from the end of the wire to where the resistor on the key fits into the ignition switch. Another might be confirm no continuity in the ends of the wire then insert the key and see if you now get a reading or not assuming there isn't a break in the wire (should if that's what's going on).

Sorry... yes solved yesterday. And I did confirm with DVM that connector is from Key reader, resistance was open, key in & matched the key resistance. 2nd clue was starter enable relay had black/yellow cut & ringed to ground on column support bolt to bypass CCM ground signal.

Thanks for input(s).
