Default Pulling the engine this winter.

Yo!

Gonna pull the engine this winter, and I am thinking about some uppgrades.

1. Rebuilding the L98 with new heads, cam and air intake+

2. Swap the engine with a LT1

3. Go oldschool

4. Go newer

The car is beeing used only in the summertime, and during the summertime I drive about 8.000Km. Happenings and stuff.
Money isn't really an issue, but I would like the cost not to run over 10k$.
Anyone done these upgrades and could gimme their 2 cents on it?

What year? What trans? What your use/goal? What's your skill level?

Crate engine with a better intake than the tpi would be the easiest, quickest and maybe the most reliable.

Like BOOT77 said it depends on what you are wanting to do and your goals.

I would not do the LT1 swap although I like the LT1 (and have 2 of them). There are some differences so that you would require changeover parts. The same or better performance can be done with your L98 and mods without having the changeover expense.

I would not go old school because I like the electronic controls and fuel injection. They provide better driveability, better mileage, and good performance.

I would either mod the L98 or go for a newer swap like an LS motor.

Upgrading the L98 with better heads and intake (like the Vortec conversion or fastburn or aftermarket like AFR etc.) will make it comparable or better than the LT1.

Upgrading to a newer LS motor (with optional mods too) is a far more complicated swap and more expensive, but they are great motors and the end result would be very good.

Good luck with your choice.

I have seen LS swaps into a c4 for 400 hp. the only thing that you lose is the mpg on the dash. everything else works.

i plan on doing it with a LQ9, in a crapper 84 i find somewhere, the 6.0 from an escalade or denali.

booyah.
