I'm Probably going to cut off the mufflers this weekend or next. I want to know if you experienced resonance with a stock exhaust with no muffler...
The car is a 96 LT4.
Thanks!
Re: Will Eliminators Resonate?? The Poll!! (FoolCrzy)
I removed my mufflers and welded in sections of pipe with dual outlets on my LT4. I ran that way for about a year and it didn't bother me at all. I did the same on my L98 coupe, and it's still that way. I don't think either resonated. My LT4 is a roadster though so yours may be different. It was no louder inside at any RPM than my Corsas.
Re: Will Eliminators Resonate?? The Poll!! (FoolCrzy)
FoolCrzy,
Please keep in mind that the LT4's exhaust is different from the LT1's exhaust. I say that because I bet there will be differences in the way each one resonates, if at all.
FYI The difference is a crossover pipe just in front of the rear diff.
Re: Will Eliminators Resonate?? The Poll!! (Arisa)
Thanks for the repiles. I know about the differences in the lt1/4 exhausts. I'll probably just try it and see how it sounds... I can always buy Corsas later...
Re: Will Eliminators Resonate?? The Poll!! (FoolCrzy)
They have some resonance, about the same as I had with my flowmasters. Not near as bad as my brother's rustang. They sound good though, I say get them.
Re: Will Eliminators Resonate?? The Poll!! (FoolCrzy)
Will not resonate much as long as you have the exhaust come out past the rear bumper, at least a few inches. :yesnod: My buddy had his like the factory which is under the bumper and all the noise came inside!
Re: Will Eliminators Resonate?? The Poll!! (FoolCrzy)
what IS the difference between the LT1 and the LT4 exhaust....other than the o2 sensor? i just installed a LT4 B&B triflow exhaust on my LT1...all i had to do was plug the o2 bung...
Re: Will Eliminators Resonate?? The Poll!! (FoolCrzy)
Yes, they will resonate, and having the tips extend past the lower valance did not help. After two months of not hearing the stereo, not being able to carry on a conversation, and having my wife say "I told you so", I ripped 'em out and installed Corsa. Love my Corsa!

I have no problem listening to my stereo at normal levels. I even have an EZ vent installed and I can have a normal conversation with my wife too! :D I would suggest that if you are going to get this done ride with someone who already has it. I guess some driver's ears are more sensitive than others. You will like all the compliments from other drivers and that is a bonus! Always remember that it's YOUR Vette and you do as you please with it!! :seeya
Re: Will Eliminators Resonate?? The Poll!! (FoolCrzy)
My '87 doesn't resonate at all with just the 3 cats and no mufflers. Reasonably quite too but it lets the cam be heard. I have the Eliminator kit from Mid-America. See pic. I did drop the rear 3/4" since these pics were taken so it's level. It's not really as "stinkbug-ish" as it looks in these pics.
Re: Will Eliminators Resonate?? The Poll!! (BIG JIM 54)
I just did the eliminators yesterday, and it made a worlds difference. I took off flowmasters to do the eliminators, b/c the flowmasters would rattle your brains they resonated so much.
So in answer to your question, yes the will resonate but the resonace is not very bad at all!
