Today I pulled the transmission on my friends c4 Manual, unbolted the bell housing removed all bolts and wires connecting bellhousing. the bell housing will rock and rattle back and forth but I cannot pull it off because of the fork holding onto what I think is the throw bearing. It is connected to where the slave mounts and is actuated by it, looks like a t65 screw would take it apart but I'm not sure. Is there a write up on removing the bellhousing correctly?
There is a retaining clip on the clutch fork that holds the fork on the pivot ball. You should be able to pull the clutch fork off the pivot. The clip is springy (is that a word?).
You might try mentioning the year of the C4. I don't know if your "thread title" is asking how to "PULL" OR if maybe you're trying to tell us that it's a "PULL STYLE" clutch.

The year would maybe sort that issue.
I'm sorry. It's a 91. Also, I'm trying to pull the bell housing off to get the clutch assembly out.

In this link to the release bearing you'll see the three tabs, in the column to the left click on "clutch bearing retainer" and between images of the two parts and also the fork on the same page you'll sort out your issue.
On C4's with the pull style clutch and the ZF gearbox - you can have a situation where the clutch is so worn that the release fork is at a rather extreme angle, and is essentially holding the bell housing in place.
The good news is that there is a solution - the "stud / ball" the release fork pivots on is accessible with the gearbox out. I believe it's a 12mm Allen head. The stud will be tight - but you can "unscrew" it and that should allow the bell housing to come off. Just remember what side of the bellhousing you're working from - and that you are trying to remove the bolt from the opposite side.
