Default distibutor wiring question

I swapped my 84 corvette to carb and i got this new proform gm performance HEI vacuum advance distributor. At the base of the distributor there are 3 wires to a black connector. Does this connector circled in orange the picture plug into the the top of the distributor cap as shown in the other picture?

That 3-wire connector is to the pick-up module and I'd say you've got it appropriately connected in the 2D snapshot. I see no reason to doubt that. I would think there was an instruction set with the purchase that would explain. So long as you're doing "coil in cap" HEI I'd say it's fine.

I would think the connector is actually "indexed" to prevent wrong insertion.

I sometimes feel your posts are maybe very "troll like" in that they're seemingly simple tasks that should have likely been thought out before the effort to remove was ever started. One day you'll let us know who passed "the test". Maybe?

Yes that plugs in there, all you need now is a 12v source to make it work. The heavy red wire is the 12v source, the unused one is for the tach.

The stock harness was removed because many plugs were broken, rodents chewed the hell out of the harness coming out of the fire wall, crossfire system sucks huge *** so it was removed. I found it best to remove all wiring and start fresh with new wiring kits, got rid of the horrible digital dash and bought all auto meter gauges, and carb setup, it's not a daily driver it's a auto x and drag car. Yes they maybe simple tasks but I like to make sure I'm doing it correctly instead just hoping for the best. So I want to thank everyone else on here for you help, but WVZR-1 if you don't like the way I'm doing things stop reading my posts and don't help simple as that.
