Hey guys
quick digital dash question the display is so dim i can not see it at night and bearly make it out during the daytime, please help i am new to these cars and digital dashs.
Sounds like your backlighting bulbs have blown out. If you remove the front plastic bezel you will see 4 small aluminum covers that you can pull out. Pull those out and turn the key to 'on'. Do the bulbs light up?
I had the same problem. Turned out that the connector between the top board and the bottom board had overheated, and was not making contact on the 12V side. I couldn't bend the contacts, so I stuck a flat wooden toothpick down in the space between the socket and the contact, and it has been working fine for several months.
Re: digital dash problem on 84 vette (colin84vette)
I don't know about your 84, but I think that my 88 has a little sensor up by the upper left corner of the speedometer. I think that my owners manual told me that it was a little sensor that sensed when it was darker in the car and would make the dash light up more. You might look into that too.
