Default 92 corvette coolant sensor low temperature

Hello,

I have a 92 LT1.
Is the coolant sensor on the water pump? Is that the only one?

Thank You

That is the only one for the ECM, the dash cluster uses a separate for the TEMP display.

The sensor for the gauge is on the passenger side, in an area between the rear spark plugs, as I recall. It only has one wire coming from it.
The sensor on the waterpump is for the ECM, and it has 2 wires on it.

Neither of the coolant sensors are capable of displaying "LOW COOLANT" - if the OP doesn't have C68 AC then it's immaterial to mention the digital display because C60 won't have access to the information.

I can not see from here what he has. And did not say the temp gauges are capable of displaying LOW COOLANT. But was asking if he saw that and he was mistaking it for temp when it might just be low on coolant.

Both can be intermittent BUT if you have C68 AC then I'd concentrate first on coolant sensor @ the WP for the ECM. You might try monitoring the CTS by using the AC control if you have C68/ATC. If you have manual AC with a temp cable you don't need to bother looking. This thread has I believe pretty accurate instructions for accessing the display in the C68 AC control.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1577429729

The connector @ the CTS is a likely failure as well as the sensor itself.

I would try bleeding the system first just open the bleeders to let the air out do not get your opti wet. the sensor will not work right with air on it but it's your money. on my 94 I just jack up the right rear and take the rad cap off and let the air bubble out.

I just inspected the coolant sensor on the passenger side and noticed it was dry rotted and not connected. Picked up a new one and installed it. Now!!! I can't clip on the pigtail connector! Is it possible that it's the wrong one?

There is no secondary fan switch.

OP - through the years there has been some confusion as to what is used as a sender for the TEMP GAUGE. Did the old switch have just a "single spade" connector or was it an enclosed 2 pin connector. What brand and part number did you buy? You don't need a snapshot just the part # and brand.

This is the "single spade" type - pay no attention to years mentioned.

this is the 2 pin variation

Hello,
It was a 2 pin connector with one wire. The part number is SU109.

Now can I use 'NOS # 8993146' and just change the connector?

If your connector matches the switch/sender you bought use it. If the old switch/sender was a single spade just get an equivalent to that part number from the same store. If you need both a switch/sender and a connector just get matching components.

A TU66 might be a similar change to the 8993146 from most any AP store.
