84 Headlight motor brushes?

84 Headlight motor brushes?
Has anyone replaced the brushes on an 84 headlamp motor? I thought the gears were gone when my lamp wouldn't go back down, but when I opened up the motor housing I saw that the commutator had no brushes left. I found an old post from someone who replaced their 88 motor with Bosch brushes # 3604321509 from a tool repair place, but my 84 motor is quite different. I doubt if the tool guy would know what would fit...

My local hardware store has a limited number of brushes in with the odds and ends hardware. You might try a place like that?
Or, alternatively, you might look them up at an industrial supply house like www.mcmaster.com
They are carbon and you can trim them to size if they're too long, or carefully shape them a little, or what have you..

I'll give that a try,,,,but I'll need to find one with a high copper content so it will hold a solder.
