Default What is this tube???

Hello guys, I am a spaniard gay that have a 1988 C4 Corvette, and I am very happy with it! I am ordering some pieces for my Vette, and I have decided to write here searching for help. Since I do not speak english natively, I am unable to find out how is called in english the tube shown in this image:

The fact is that my "black tube" is ok. Simply, it sometimes goes out from the hole with time, so I think that there could be some part missing, maybe some ring, washer or something like that to set it in the hole.

Can you please help me? I need to find the part, if exist, to set well this tube in the hole.

Valve cover grommet it should be available at part stores, look at the "help" rack if there is such a thing in your stores.

This one may work,

I buy directly from USA, so no problem here.

But I thing that my car already has this plastic piece, this gormet that you say.

The fact that I do not understand is that the tube is directly inserted in the gormet, but there is not any thing to set it well, I mean some kind of lock, closing ring, etc.

So I must understand that it works like that: you insert the tube in the hole through the gormet and, every time, you insert it well again because if not it comes out.

The grommet will swell with time and need to be replaced, On your other valve cover is the PVC valve withe same gromet you should replace both along with the PVC valve, its possible your PVC valve is not working properly and needs to be replaced, a bad PVC valve may be causing pressure to build in your crankcase causing the your tube on the other valve cover to blow out, they are not expensive.

I believe that breather tube should run to your throttle body. On my car it's routed to the top port on the passenger side of the TB.

Early cars have a metal tube that connects the throttle body to the passenger side valve cover, with a short rubber hose on the throttle body end and a couple of right angle rubber parts on the other end, joined by a short metal tube with a bend in the middle. GM calls the passenger side of the PCV system CCV for CrankCase Ventilation.

The picture in post #1 seems to be of a 1989 Corvette...

I believe the OP's "routing" is correct and these I believe would be appropriate OE/GM #'s for the three related parts. The grommet GM# 3989349 (for an '88), the connector GM# 10055873 and the hose GM# 10055872.

The grommet GM# 10240678 is the newer # for the ''89 thru '91 L98 and I see no reason why it wouldn't be considered a fit.

Here's a link to an image and in this image you need to be concerned with #24, #77 & #78
