I've plans to grab the new GM centerblolt valve covers that are 1/4" taller, and wondering if I should go back to installing my GM Performance full roller rockers which are at 1.5 or should I stay with the Comp Cams roller tip rockers which are 1.6. Will there be a loss of power or something going from 1.6 to 1.5?
There will be a net loss of lift, the amount of which depends on the cam grind.
For example, a cam grind of .300 becomes .450 with 1.5 ratio rockers and .480 with 1.6 rockers.
I also think the roller tip CC pieces are junk. Its alway better to use full roller rockers because all the gain to be had is in the trunion and not the tip.
my suggestion is whatever route leads you to a double roller 1.5 or 1.6. just going to a double roller will give you a more consistant ("stiffer") valve train. The question you should be asking is "what fits under my valve cover?"
