Supercharger Ideas
I would like to try and find a supercharger from that time with low boost to add to my car.
Am I asking for issues? I have chipped the car, but to be honest been so long ago I do not remember whos chip I used
Anyone know anywhere I might find something? This is just a fun driver.
just want to make it different that the rest
Thanks
Dave

i run a d1 procharger on my setup what kind,of,questions do you have?
Adding a supercharger is a VERY serious challenge !!! Unless you are ready to spend $6 to $10K I suggest you leave it alone !!!!!!!! LOL
When you add a blower you seriously expand the engine window GM expected and thus have to address the fuel pump(s), injector size, tuning curve, etc. On the '85 I believe your pistons are forged vs. cast (hyperUtectic).
But it all comes down to money vs. learning curve. That is why you can vary from $6K to $10K without blinking an eye !!!!!!!!!!!
I could go on forever but I just say to you BUYER beware !

How many miles are on the car?
The biggest issue is blowby an old engine will develop oil leaks everywhere, even 6 psi boost is no good on high milage engines.
I replaced my 85 engine at 170,000 miles, got sick of the oil leaks she still ran real good.
The main issue I encountered was trying to get the most boost, i have a vortech unit and needed to modify the cross member to fit a larger crank pulley. still only 10 or 12 psi.
Get a tried and proven kit, you can get away with the standard injectors when using a vortech FMU that restricts the return fuel to raise pressure per psi boost which is fine for 6 psi.
you will need a inline high volume fuel pump, block off the crank case ventilation.
See below my 85 with vortech and intercooler, here in OZ you need to use the standard air filter to be legal they do not like pod filters here.
You can go for methanol injection without the intercooler, is a lot easier to fit than an intercooler.
Remember you will need to run the expensive high octane fuel, i also recommend a quiet blower. The V1 is quite noisy.
have a look at the procharger kit they have a kit for around $6k with everything you need to fit one to an 85.
There are also a lot of cars for sale with superchargers done correctly, selling a 15K investment for next to nothing.
Good luck.
