Default Ed Wright question.

I am about to send off for the Ed Wright programming, but I have a couple of questions that maybe one of you Speed Demons can help me with. First, With my below listed mods, what should the Idle RPM be? Second, what should my WOT shift rpm be? Third, what should the rev limiters be? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is the last thing before I put it all together. I want to do it over the Labor day weekend.

Are you installing the cam over the weekend? If so you may just want to call Ed Wright. He's very good with the Hot Cam, he should be able to answer most of your questions and have a very good first guess.

Based on my experience, I would set idle at 850-900, probably closer to 900 with an auto. WOT shift will depend on your power curve you get on a dyno. I would guess 6200-6300. Rev limiter, I would set for 6800.

6800 on a stock bottom end? Doesn't that seem a little risky?

I personally don't think so. That is what I set my '92 with the hotcam up with. I suppose you could put 6600, but then I like to keep it out of the way completely. The only time I want to hit the limiter is if I screw up. And the limiter is just that, the top of the rpm where you really don't want to be anyway. That is my view at least.

I called them and they said I could leave it to Ed to decide. I wanted to see what other people had done first and what the results were. I understand that the car is going to shake like a :reddevil. Will I be able to drive it without the programming while I wait for it to show up. I would like to take it to a Dyno prior to getting the chip, so I can be more specific shift points and such.
