Default Solid axle C4?

Just wondering if anybody has any pics or technical info on putting a solid axle into an 84 vette. A friend of mine is turning his into a 9 1/2 streeter and wants to to a solid axle/tubbed setup. If anybody can help I will relay the info to him.
Thanks.

Wedge. :) :)

I've seen some, but not from underneath and how they did it.

Needless to say it is a daunting task. The C-channel beam that connects the trans to the rear differential is all stationary. Going to a solid-axle means all that stuff back there is moving vertically up & down. How you get this to work is going to be a trick.

There is an 8 or 9-second ZR1 out there who did this. You might go the the ZR1 net to find out who he is and how to contact him.

I thought about this last year. I suppose you can make a solid rear-end that bolts up like the IRS. Funny cars and dragsters have no rear suspension movement and rely on the rear tires to soften the launch, etc.

On the other hand, I do know of one particular '68 BB N/A (no NOS) 550++ cu/in (he won't say EXACTLY how many cubes it really is) coupe that runs low 9's regularly. He does it with a full IRS, and changes the universals every 10 runs.

What a sight to see...1000 HP (yes...I've seen the dyno sheets) hazing the 14" Goodyear Drag slicks all the way through the lights. I've got some good video of it from on top of the timing tower at Gateway (St. Louis)...

I don't think it would be an extreme major task. I have been thinking about it for my 86. You basically have a 4 link suspension but must allow for the C channel to properly align the rear end. I have seen some pics here on the forum and there are a couple of the members here running them

Try to contact forum member "Wheelsup", I do believe he runs a 12 bolt differential on his C4. If I remember correctly, it was not all that hard a task - counting on a person being mechanically/fabricator inclined.
