Default to cold vette

My 86 vette use to run very warm, I installed a 180 degree thermostat and a new switch to turn the fan on at 200 and off at 180. Allways seem to still run warm. I then changed the water pump and that seemed to help but stiil not enough. I decided to have the radiator flushed but it was so bad i just installed a new one. The moral of this sory is now the vette runs abought 150 degrees. My question is , is this now to cold to pass emmisions and will this help the perfomance and will it effect my gas milage?

You need a hot engine for proper emissions. I bet 150deg. may be a problem for you here in Calif. Your engine was designed for 195deg. to optimize emissions. I always go for a long drive before I get my emissions test, to be sure everything in the engine and exhaust is HOT. I'm completely stock internally. Just my $.02 worth!

Yup .......that engine's too cold.......... is it possible you did something to the thermostat when you changed the water pump? ........it sounds to me like the thermostat is sticking OPEN ...........and now it's not warming up...... I had one fall apert on me once!!!!! the engine cooled down to 125 on the interstate and it came out of closed loop and the torque converter unlocked. as I went down a hill I had no engine braking and the speed went up to 85 from 70 .........(we have some pretty good hills around here he he) :seeya
