Default Right Hand Drive Accelerator Cable

As my luck would have it...

I have just completed my rebuild and on the first drive, the accelerator cable snapped inside the plastic housing. There is a huge bulge and now I can't get anything more than 10% throttle.

Good news is the engine runs and drives! So, am very happy about that..

I have been trying to find a replacement accelerator cable, but everything I can find is too short to be routed over to the right hand side of the engine bay.

Does anyone know where you could find an extra long cable?

Cheers!

For a RHD I'd think something like this would be ideal. It's used frequently for many other projects and is very positive in operation.

You would select a package/part number from here for your particular install. What do you have for a pedal linkage "in the car" presently?

I think everything is stock? The pedal looks original and just moved over from the left to the right. This conversion was done in 1994 and the guys in Australia are no longer around so I can't ask them what they used.

Thanks for the link I will contact them to see if they can make me one

Hi

I went to a local bicycle shop and got 2 meters of outer sheath and cable (which bikes use for brakes and gear shifters)

I managed to re use the end that connects to the throttle body, I cant remember if I cut the cable and opened the crimp to cable.

You can re use the plastic piece that the sheath fits into, you can cut the old one flush and drill it out to fit the new sheath.

You can try calling Corvette Clinic in Victoria Australia, a right hand drive conversion shop.
They may have a new accelerator cable? See links below.

Or Performax Queensland below.

Got in touch with Corvette Clinic, haha I got a no way do we have parts for cars that old!

Performax were the ones who did the conversion for me just over 20 years ago. They used to be called Corvette Queensland. They said that they probably used a commodore accelerator cable, and after checking online the cable seems to look identical, and even has the foam bit around the housing in the middle.

Attached is a pic of my cable, you can see where it snapped in the housing.

Hi

Let us know if a Holden Commodore cable is the right one?

My car was converted by corvette clinic, I found the accelerator and cruise control outer sheath was joined together. That allowed dirt and moisture in, will be good to have a spare accelerator cable?

Thanks
Gerard

Hey Gerard,

Have not been able to locate the right length cable yet! I can't see any joint in mine, so it has to be from some sort of Holden. I contacted a few dealers in Aus and they are unable to help me check lengths! Running out of options. Have tried Lokar but they dont have this size.
