Default Help with TPIS!

I need some help with the TPIS Long tube Headers. I want to run these, but I have to pass emissions. I am currently stationed in NC, but I may get transfered to a state that has emissions. Can I relocate the cats? Can I just run one cat with the OBDII? I had planned on getting everything done this weekend, but I may have to do everything else and do the headers later. I was also wondering about losing torque with the muff elims that I am currently running. If I can get any help it would be great.

Wish I had a picture of my setup.

You can put 2 Random Tech 3" bullit cats on the collectors, and have new head-pipes bent from there to the resonator.

I passed all emissions here, no problem.

No experience here with this mod but I will pass on what I have read. If you have a 6 speed you can use the bullet style cats on the end of the headers. On a auto there is not enough room. I seen pictures of one vette that had relocated the cats, Bullet Style, to where the resonator is now. But I have heard others say that there is not enough heat that far down stream to work properly. TPIS offers a system for the LT1 which is essentally a L98 system. It has a y pipe that goes to a single converter and then back to the dual mufflers. Good luck and let us know how you work it out!!

While this is somewhat correct, I have seen automatics shorten the collector pipe by as much as 6" to overcome this. It gives them enough clearance for the cats to mount where they need to be...close to the head so they heat up properly.

We had to cut 3" off mine so they wouldn't have too severe of a bend from the cats to the resonator.
