Just to follow up for anyone in the future who finds this thread, to answer the question of whether or not to remove the air bag, YES, remove the air bag. Even though the factory service manual doesn't mention doing it, there is just no way around it... literally. It's easy to remove too. After disconnecting the battery and letting it sit long enough to insure there is no power in the system (I removed the fuse too just because I'm paranoid), remove the four nuts holding it in, and disconnect the connector toward the front of the unit. This will give you better access to the hardest bolts to get to, along with the tube going into the interior temp sensor. The extra room helped a lot as you'll see in my video when it is uploaded. I intend to put a link to it in another follow up post to this thread. Until then, the best advice I have is for you to take your time; put the screws, nuts and bolts in marked zip lock bags as you go; get your two heater core hoses in advance, and remember you have friends here at the forum.

Thanks again to everyone here who gives of their wisdom to keep these C4's running.
I'm in the middle of doing the heater core on my '94 right now - just taking a break. Did you get that video edited yet? I could use some tips.

Thanks!

Not yet friend. I'm planning to do that next weekend. If you have any questions though, feel free to holler.

Thanks! I got it all torn apart finally and got the old heater core out. Now comes the reassembly part.

At least it'll be easier to wire up new fuel pressure and boost gauges with the dash all taken apart.

Congratulations! That was a job wasn't it? One thing I did before reassembly wast to fix some cracks on the bottom of the dash pad as long as I was at it. There were two cracks in the plastic so I mixed the two part JB Weld over them, opened them up enough to get some of the mixture inside and then smoothed it out over the area. I applied gentle pressure overnight to keep it in place. That gave me a nice hard patch that will keep it from breaking the next time I have to pull the dash apart. Those suckers are expensive to replace.

Default Passenger air bag dash panel removal

Does anyone have a few pictures of how to get the 4 bolts/screws that attach the panel covering the passenger airbag in a 1994 corvette?
