As for tips to replace the oil pan gasket, it is pretty straight forward. You will need to be able to rotate the engine where the front counter weight on the crank is up so the pan slides out. You will have to remove the starter, flywheel cover, and oil filter adapter to get the pan off. When reinstalling the new gasket, put a dab of RTV on each corner on both sides. Leave the rest clean.

As for lifting the motor, remove the passenger side motor mount from the bottom and lift the motor by the pan using a wood block to distribute the engine weight. OR use an engine hoist if you have one. It does not need to be lifted very far to be able to get the cam past the frame rail. Couple of inches max.
