Default What is this?

I'm working on a 87 Corvette Coupe. We were replacing the hood cable because someone cut it and in the process of pulling the cable through the firewall, we somehow disconnected a wire from something that is attached to a bracket above the battery. The shop manuals shows two relays there and not this. Any idea what this is?

That's interesting. I never thought of that. There's no alarm that I know of but that doesn't mean anything. It's solid so can't put anything in it. It didn't affect anything. Car started up fine. No issues there. What's surprising is the fact there is supposed to be relays there so what happened to them? Curiouser and curiouser. I've had C4's for a long time but this is the first time I worked on an older model. The oldest that I had was my 89. I never saw it there.

1st off it has "flat blade screws" (first hint not to be OE), it has a seam so it ain't solid (I believe) and I think maybe the MAF relays are actually there. You would need to comment on the wire colors but I believe I spotted them in the 2nd snapshot.

You can see both maf relays in both pics below and deeper.

edit: FYI you have the rounder relays, mine are more rectangle.

You are quite correct. The manual shows the relays as being up higher. It probably is an aftermarket device as the wire going in didn't look like something GM would do. There were two wires going in the the firewall plug and that didn't make sense to me either. Mystery solved.

Thanks guys.
