Saw test in Hot Rod Mag...and test by 2 guys garage on speedvision tv....they showed it actually worked...in both gas savings and in slight increase in HP...
Did you see this???
I've ordered a set for my CFI '84.....30 Days to see...if it dosen't show me anything I can send it back...
Raysur, just to answer your q.The 84 has swirl plates to avoid puddling of the fuel in the intake. The injectors are so close to the base plate it needs them. :chevy

Thanks. I knew it served a different purpose.
Hmmm...you might like being a trusting individual, so I hope it doesn't come as a complete suprise to you that paid actors might not be very interested in the validity of any item, or in how jacked a "test" might have been (naw, Hot Rod Magazine would never do such a thing...would they?). Once again, common sense tells us that a properly running engine will NOT benefit from an air intake restriction.
Here's what I say, go down to where the rubber meets the road, like at your local dragstrip. Now pay particular attention to how the better performing cars are set up. Bonus points: notice that NONE of them use a Tornado, fuel line magnets, or my favorite; electric mini *superchargers*.
Having a certain amount of "swirl" or "tumbling" of the air as it enters the cylinders is a good thing; supposed to help achieve a more homogenous mixture and prevent lean and rich areas. But it's a function of air velocity and mostly cylinder head intake port / combustion chamber design; that's why we started seeing things like Trick Flow's Twisted Wedge, etc.
The tornado is crap and it won't do anything. Especially if you think about a TPI vette- it has to go thru the TB, hang out in the plenum, then go 8 different directions down each individual runner. Even if the air was swirling in the intake tract, it won't be after going thru all that stuff
