Default Digital dash T/S help.

Hello guys, new to the forum and love it so far. Hoping you can help with my digital dash issue. I think i have burned LCD screens but please look at my pics and tell me if i'm right. The numbers on my cluster are in grey instead of the yellow I see in other clusters. Also if I set my switch to say oil pressure, it will display the oil pressure but the words "oil temp" appear to glow instead of oil pressure. Same things when I set the switch to coolent/volts. In the black pics below you can see my coolent temp at 13.7. Additionally, looks like I have a burned out bulb on the right. Please confirm my findings.

Looks to me like the polarizing film on your LCD has been burned. This will happen over time with the old halogen 882 backlight bulbs, and direct exposure to sunlight only speeds up the process. Don't fret; you shouldn't need new LCDs. Go to Batee.com and check out the instructions for replacing the film--it's pretty easy, takes only basic tools, and it's MUCH cheaper to do it yourself than to send it out. That site is a great source for Xenon or LED bulb upgrades (which won't burn the film), many other dash components, and a host of DIY instructions.

Mine went out the other year and because I was nervous about doing it myself, I sent it to Batee. Bryan did an exceptional job bringing it back to life. He sent me pictures of the issue, let me know the cost and did the work in a very timely and accurate fashion.

I'd recommend him highly, I'm well pleased with mine. I did have one bulb post repair that I thought went out, turned out to be the contact between the bulb and socket was the problem. A little careful bending on the bulb contacts and it was business as usual.

One more thing. The 4 main bulbs can be replaced from the front without removing the instrument panel if needed. There are 4 metal plugs that can be removed after the bezel is off. With the right tool to grasp the bulbs, you can pull them out and replace them through the front. Be aware there are 2 style bulbs that were used so you need to get the same pin configuration as what you have in there currently to do it this way.
