Default Cat Removal

Does anybody have any experience removing/replacing the catalytic converter? I am thinking of replacing the rear y, mufflers, and the cat. Also how hard is removing the AIR pipe(I think thats what its called) connecting to it, is this welded? :) Thanks in advance

If your cat is the early 4-bolt front & rear it won't be too bad, just cut off the bolts.

If it's a slip front connection on the cat it's a good excuse to replace the front Y with a mandrel-bant unit to get full benefit from the new cat and cat-back.

I think you can install the AIR pip without welding, or you could take to an exhaust shop or good garage to have it welded up.

It could be stuck and irritating to get it loose but it's not too much trouble. The air pipe is to my believe not welded.

After removing the cat's, do not forget to turn off the EGR. It will give your Vette a new dimension. After the exhaust is hot and you've been cruising, shift down and let the car slow down. You will hear sounds coming from the back... :D :D :D it could produce a "service engine soon" light when you did not warm up easy enough but that's the EGR giving a fault reading, no prob!

The next time it is fun to stop for trafic lights...the sound of power!
