Default Stereo taking too much juice

Maybe I should have this in the audio section but I wasn't sure if my problem was electrical or engine related. Anyway when I have my stereo cranked the headlights and taillights dim with the beat. I know this can't be good. Do I have to do somthing to correct this or is it ok to leave alone?

Dim with a Bass beat isn't that bad, if the voltage stays up (ie the alternator can keep up). How power is your amps using? If you want to mostly eliminate the dimming add a capacitor.

Well you could turn it down, put in a capacitor, or put in a bigger alternator. Sounds to me like you arent running a stock stereo setup. I have a subwoofer for my 88 and the digidash, headlights, taillights, everything will dim when the bass hits. Im thinking of going with a capacitor and mounting it onto my speaker box. (along with the amp, on off switch and sub of course. If you are gonna steal it, at least take it all without destroying my interior, you know?)

Most people wont need the alternator upgrade unless you are putting out a ton of power constantly. (I.E. many high power speakers or driving lights)

Hope this helps
