1. disconnect the battery (negative)
2. open the rear hatch and remove the rear trim panel
3. find the black relay box and disconnect the antenna lead
4. remove left side trim panel
5. remove cargo shade track
6. remove speaker grill
7. peel back carpet and find antenna lead (disconnect)
now comes the fun!
8. raise vehicle and secure
9. remove left reat wheel and inner fender panel (wheel well)
10. look up with flashlight and find antenna lock nut just under body
11. remove two antenna support nuts
12. follow antenna lead and power line to grommet going into back of car. Pull them through and that should do it.
I did it on my 91......took a long two hours or so...depending on distractions....hope it's not too different...good luck!

Re: need tips on replacing power antenna on 89 vette convertable (brdd)
Are you sure the motor is bad? Have someone turn the key on and off and see if you can hear the motor running. If you can hear it running all you need is the 29.00 antenna kit from GM. It installs in five minutes and comes with instructions. Just replaced the one on my ZR-1. The antenna would go up but not down. Hope this helps good luck. 84 CF 91 ZR-1
