I just completed the install of a Breathless Performance eliminator kit on my '88. It seems to be a little noiser than the stock pump was and I was wondering if this is normal. I went back and tightened everything again but it still has a little noise that bothers me. If anyone else has this noise with an eliminator I'd really like to hear. :seeya
I am gonna jump in here with another question (Sorry I cant answer yours)...
Anyone see a problem with just using a Heim Joint setup and bolting to the PS/AIR Stud (lower closest to center of block), and then to the alternator? The alt would have to roll in a bit, but still seems to clear the valve covers fine, and the angle (using rods to test) seems like it wouldnt be a problem. IMO It would look cleaner then having the eliminator kit there, and cost alot less. I have to use a custom belt anyways so no worries there...
I don't believe this noise is coming for hitting anything. I mainly only hear it when it is idling. But theres a reason for that, with no cats, duals, and flowmasters, i really don't hear much when I'm on the throttle but angry exhaust. I think I might loosen everything up, and retighten everything so I know its all running true and straight and not causing any bind ont he bearing in the pulley. Not really sure if it will healp but its a start.
I have some extra noise every now and then. I tracked it down to the pulley. Everything on mine is straight with no binding. I think the pulley is not of the best quality
Rob90: Thats about where I thought the noise was coming from too. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't the only one with the problem. I would hate for a bearing to go out in it driving down the road. With the luck I've been having lately, you just never can tell. :seeya
