changing 94' LT1 plug wires ????'s
Sorry for being so dumb about the the LT1 but my learning curve has been totally around my C5. I've modded my C5 past 500 fwhp so I'm not clue less, but I do need some help on replacing plug wires on the LT1 C4.
the even side (passenger) was a piece of cake but the odd side looks like the belts have to come off to get the wires down to the coil block.
Something else I'm wondering about is why I have 10 wires in the set. What are the extra 2 for?

It looks like this opti-spark is straight (atleast on the side I did change, which was the passenger side which on this 94' LT1 was the even cylinders 2-8)
When I put a wrench to the tensioner, I did it from the center of the pulley and it broke loose. On the C5 putting a wrench on the pulley bolt will move the tensioner out of the way. On the LT1 though I should remove the tensioner from the bracket (the two bolts that hold the tensioner) and get access to the coil pack.
Thanks for the tip on the extra wires.
This is my GF's car and even without the 1,3,5,7 wires replaced, the new plugs, 2,4,6,8 wires and the new K&N air filter have made it run much better.
She's a happy camper but I got to get those other wires on next weekend.
I just replaced mine this weekend and boy was it a PITA! I decided to put an electric water pump on and since I had everything out of the way, I decided to change out the plugs and wires. It turned out to be a monumental task that took all weekend. It took the better part of Saturday to do the even side, but the odds only took a couple of hours. Here are a few tips for making it a little easier:
1) Remove the ASR/Throttle cable and bracket out of the way. It is only 4 bolts and it makes it a LOT easier to reach the plugs.
2) Remove the tensioner all together. It gives you room to see what you are doing.
3) At the pulley under the smog pump, 1 of the wires goes around the bracket and the others go under it just above the pulley.
Hope this helps a little...
I thought the odd side would be much harder because of the stuff in the way, but I did unbolt the ASR box and everything was right there.
sounds like another couple of hours next Sat. to get the other plugs wire done.
Thanks,
Gary
