Electrical Help - Again
Last week the boy was playing a CD in the new stereo and must have blown a fuse.
I think it was a high amp one because of all the systems that seem to be afected.
Open doors and no lights come on
Stereo is dead
AC controller is dead
Security light does not come on! (doesn't flash)
Everything else seems to work so I'm thinking its the circuit that supplies a constant 12V to the above functions. Anyone with an electrical diagram that can help point me to the troubled fuse?
I'll probably pull them all again if I can't get an answer from ya'll by Friday
James, your electrical symptoms don't equate to a single fuse. The components that you list as not working are controlled by the fuses in the panel located at the right of the dash, and not by a central breaker, or link, or fuse. My first reaction would be to retrace the installation steps of the new sound system, and search for shorts, etc. As many of us know from experience, the unit that we have just repaired can be the problem. :smash:
Good luck!

Great, guess I'll just have to go through them all again. I checked the couple that were blown the last time and they were still good. There were no shorts and the crimp connectors were still solid from the installation.
Last time I blew a major fuse was because a metal object fell into the cigarette lighter hole. Guess its time to break out the fuse collection and go through them one at a time. Thanks for the help.

Re: Electrical Help - Again (jaa1988)
Well it was a single fuse as I suspected. The courtesy / clock fuse was blown.
It looks like it provides the constant 12v to the stuff that stopped working.
All the other possibles were OK, replced the courtesy/clock fuse and it all started working again.
I have to replace the filler panel for the radio again and I'll double check the connectors, but I'm sure they are fine. THe boy must have tried to use the lighter :mad
The A/C control assy is fed from the GAUGES FUSE and the CTSY/CLK FUSE; the Delco/Bose radio is fed from the RADIO FUSE and the antenna relay from the CTSY/CLK FUSE.

That explains why the CTSY/CLK fuse was blown and the other two were fine. It also protects the interior lights, and provides a constant 12v to the radio for the clock function, as well as protecting the lighter socket. I'll remmber the next time.
It shouldn't be blowing regardless. What items that aren't stock, besides the head unit if anything do you have hooked up to that circuit. Radar detector? Amps? CB?
