I wired in my head unit (Pioneer 45 x 4) and 4 speakers (pio 4" and pio 6 x 9) and wired the speaker wires, power, and ground into the head unit, and plugged the antenna cable in. CD works great and I can get radio with on/off reception. This is because I didn't wire the power antenna (which supplies power to the power antenna) and I didn't wire in the on/off (if there is one) for the power antenna. What color (or how do I find out which wire) provides power to the power antenna? And is there anything else I need to wire in (an on/off switch or the likes) to get the power antenna to work?
You need to hook up the radio's power antenna lead to the pink wire on the harness. This activates the antenna. It is powered independantly and doesn't need any other connections for power.
also is there a way to find the battery wire (one that supplies power even when the car is off - save presets, etc.) and if i cant find it, how do i create my own?

You're doing this without a multimeter? Use one and finding the power wires should be trivial.
Get a test light from sears for $10. If you had something previously wired, remove all the old aftermarket wires one at a time. Tape each end as you remove the wire so you don't cross the streams. Then test each wire and hook them up one at a time. Here is a link with all the colors for the wires. http://www.corvetteradios.com./Page3.html
Hook up all the wires correctly after testing each one. If you can't find power on one, its probably a bad fuse. Remember, there are two fuse boxes, one in the passenger side of the dash accessable by the door frame, the other behind the carpeted panel under the passenger side dash. This panel needs to be removed to gain access.
