I know a throttle body isn't a high tech item, but I'm looking for
advice. My heads are off to Lloyd Elliot for LE2 headwork. I'm upgrading entire valve train w camshaft, 1:6 rockers, Bosch 32# injectors, fuel pump etc, etc. I will need a 52mm TB. I've been looking at BBK, TPIS (pricey) Holley, Edelbrock, Professional Products Power TB(the least expensive). I'm curious if anyone has any strong opinions/ advice.
Thanks Gary
People claim they have DYNO'd. Various size Throttle bodies. on the same engine With NO gain. Some claim a loss..The problem I see with this. It will change your air flow. and lean out. one fact is. you can feel the response and power. upgrading. I truly believe the engine should be re-tuned for such a change. spending $300 on let's say. a stock engine is simply not cost effective! I would love to have free DYNO time testing my tunes. I do see big results using DATA masters. DYNO feature. Skip Professional Product. I witnessed there imperfections. BBK is the most economical. I would Honestly look for Used BBK, Holley.. Ect. re-polish to make it pretty. If your considering 52. Just go for 58.. If there is no gain from larger TB's why did the later GEN~ LS. increase the size. over 1st GEN
Here is a simple backward test. Restrict the airflow. reduce the size at the MAF OR TB. to let's say 35MM.
