My only PIA bolt was the rear passenger. I ended up using an ARP 12-pt header bolt and grinding down the outter edge of a wrench so that it would fit between the primary and get on the bolt head.
I actually used the ARP standard bolts. This time I had enough of the engine out of the way that I could really get to all of the bolts to tighten them down. I also used ARP assembly lubricant on the threads so I could get them even tighter. They haven't even begun to back out.
BTW, I think the copper header gasket acts somewhat like a lock washer, trying to expand against the header and providing a tension on the bolts.
Maybe it's in my head, but the bolts are all tight.
The worst thing I ever did was use the ARP stainless, 12 point bolts. The stainless ones are "slick" and work loose, not to mention that with the 12 point head you can't get them tight.
One of my Stage 8 bolts was working out constantly (too much "ding" in the header tube to catch the "C" washer) so last time I used a little Lock Tite on the threads and no problem for a year now.
i will check into the Stage-8 locking header bolts. sounds like that works. i thought about lock tite but just wasnt sure how well it would work in that application.. thanks guys :)
