I had to get my column rebuilt as the Previous owner seems to have used the wheel to pull himself up as he got out of the seat....

The only "hard part" of the job was the reinstall - where you really need two people to get the column installed. One person putting the column in the car - and another under the hood lining up the shaft and the steering rack input. Removal is more a matter of making sure everything (particularly wiring) is disconnected and out of the way as the column comes out....

Is the car an AT or a MT? An AT car has the shift interlock cable attached at the column base. Do you have the interlock cable removed from the column? I've got a snapshot but on a different computer. Here's a good image that might help. Do you have an FSM?

The cable needs either removed from the top of column (in image) or at the column to firewall base. Maybe both. I've never removed a later C4 column in an AT car- never owned an AT.

If you've everything unbolted and the intermediate shaft pushed aside you might be able to give a good rap on the steering shaft towards the top.

There's only the SIR (yellow) at the base, 2 for the ignition switch (only fit one way), the dimmer switch, wiper and the directional switch. There's nothing to confuse you. Pretty damned straight forward. Cruise and VATS are hangers so there's no confusing them either.

They're both sides of the column and also top and bottom. They're not all encompassing for a single snapshot. If you have them hanging from under the dash now and the column isn't back in post a snapshot and all of them can be ID'd.

Do you have the FSM?

Yes you can get a kit off ebay or just get the resistance off your key and buy that resistor.
