Headlight assembly Problem ... need help/suggestion
on my 1995 corvette I began to tackle the repair of headlight motors as detailed on a you tube video. I tackled the right side first and aside from some stubborn bolts, was successful in replacing the gears and pellets and reinstalled in the car. They woriked perfectly. I then started on the drivers side and ran into all sorts of problems .. first of all the little pin that had to be punched out which came out so easily on the right side simply would not budge, I guess I continued to make the situration worse by trying to dirll it out thinking I could find a replacement but it still would not budge, even broke a drill bit in the thing. also, the bolts to remove the 3 screws on the side would not budge, so not wanting to strip out the heads out, I quit. At this point the only solution is to buy a rebuilt motor, but now I am looking for a video of how to seperate the entire motor from the frame and headlight. I dont usually make such a mess of things but this simple repair just didnt go very well. Any suggestions would be appreciated, even where I could get the best quality and price for motor
Wd40, Heavy hammer, drill bit inside hole, place part on soft piece of wood (be sure the part is properly supported by wood to avoid any bending or other type of stress, i can't explain this from here you had to understqnd by yourself how to properly place part) at this point an heavy hammered on drill bit. Just pay attention to hit drill bit only.
To hammer Other parts such as bracket or motor is not reccomended
I've done mine this way, it didnt want go out, finally went out, just a pair of heavy hammereds on it

The only problem I had was with the three screws also. I heated the outside housing with a small torch (in the Screw area) and then the screws came out easily. As Christi@n stated, the pin will come out, just take you time.........No need to buy another motor..
One of my pins was stuck as well. I had to remove the assembly and place in a vice where I could get some real striking force behind it. Finally broke it free.
As stated, on the bolts, try using a heat gun and see if that will help break them free.
Did both sides of my 91 last fall and had problems with the second one too. I did separate the motor from the frame using torx screwdrivers and socket with a universal joint and lots of new words I invented. On the 91, the pins are 5/32" roll pins available at Home Depot, so WD40 and tapping with a punch and small hammer should do it. If you enlarged the hole try different drill bits until you find the diameter and get that size pin. Good luck.
