Default wheel bearings

Where is the best price on replacement front wheel bearings for a 92. Something about speed sensors also?

Do a search and you will find some good wheel bearing information.

I replaced my right front with a replacement one I bought at Pep Boys for a '94 Firebird. Cost $109 versus $250+ for the Corvette one. Has some minor differences, but the speed sensor and all function and it bolts right on (just differently).

Just got front "OEM" (NDK) bearings in a Timmken box from Autozone, part # 513085, 150.99 and rear bearings# 513020, for 157.99.

Here is a step by step on the front...haven't written the rear procedure yet but I do know it takes a 36mm socket and a T-55 torque:

FRONT RIGHT WHEEL BEARING HUB ASSEMBLY FOR 1992 CORVETTE LT1

Estimate time: One hour or less.
Tools Needed:
15 mm socket
15 mm wrench
Extension
13/16 inch socket
Torque wrench
Directions:
- Remove wheel.
- Remove the two 13/16 inch bolts holding the brake caliper, and place on top of upper “A-arm”. (* The GM service manual says you should throw these bolts away and replace them with new ones. Don’t sue me…but I’ve had mine off numerous times for brake service and have yet to replace them.)
- Remove rotor. This may be stuck. If so…coax it off with a rubber mallet.
- Unplug the speed sensor on the back of the wheel bearing hub assemble.
- Remove the two 15mm nuts holding the speed sensor wire mounting plate and move out of the way.
- Using the 15mm wrench to hold the wheel bearing hub assembly nuts. Put the 15mm socket on the bolts (between the lug-nut flange wheel bearing hub assembly. Rotate the flange until you can put the extension on the socket through one of the holes.
- Slide in new wheel bearing hub assembly and torque all four bolts to 46 ft/lb.
- Replace the speed sensor wire mounting plate with the two 15mm nuts (no torque specs for this).
- Plug in the speed sensor on the back of the wheel-bearing hub assemble.
- Replace rotor.
- Replace the brake caliper with the two 13/16-inch bolts and torque to 166 ft/lb.
- Replace wheel and torque lug nuts to 100 ft/lb.
- Test-drive and let the grins begin!!!!!!!!!
