Worth intercooling a Vortech A-trim?
I will upgrade to an SI trim at some stage but want to know if it's worth using the intercooler at the moment. I guess with the a-trim not being terribly efficient it would pump out more heat that the newer more efficient superchargers which isn't great for the engine?
there are no specs for it anywhere.
They look like very early, low level superchargers. based on what I read if true, they only put out like 5-6 PSI on a 302ci engine. they max at 40,000 rpms. Basically by over spinning it, you might be super heating the air and not getting a power benefit.
I would keep the intercooler unless you can test Air intake temperature to see if you are in a safe zone. Or look into meth/water injection.
A S trim will be a huge leap from where you are now.
also reading your other thread before I knew you had this supercharger with the smallest pulley, are you sure you do not have belt slip?

I agree that with the heat generated with this a-trim is would be sensible to keep the intercooler. Would I be best to upgrade to an SI trim. I think think is the latest version?
I'm pretty confident I'm not getting belt slip. I designed the belt arrangement to get maximum surface area on the pully. Also the performance is great considering it is an old Vortech.
Unfortunately is is very hard to find Voretch superchargers here in New Zealand so I will have to import one which ends up being quite an
expensive exercise.
