Default Valve covers

I have ran into an issue replacing everything on the top end of my engine on my 89. My stock valve covers won't fit at all. I have afr heads, scorpion endurance roller rockers, and as&m runners. I already know about removing the drip tabs. But it seems my valve covers won't go past the space between the runners and the rockers. Any suggestions on aftermarket covers that would fit?

How tight is the space? You could grind off a little of the lip on the VC. You will need to cut off and grind the drip tabs. A thicker VC gasket will also help with clearance.

Feels really tight. Not sure grinding would help. Was just thinking about getting some valve covers off eBay. One of these 2 kinds.

this style of fabricated covers will clear the larger runners and allow full roller rocker use.
you will have to cut and weld the end to clear the wiper motor though.

I may have what you need, i bought some Fabricated Valve Covers that wont fit my 2002 LS1 Corvette, Too tall on Driver side for alternator. they dont have PCV hole on Driver Side nor the Throttle Body connector on the Passenger side. They are Polished with Coil Mounts

I Paid $99.99 for these, will take $80.00 for them, still in Box, never put on car because I saw that they would not work. and no PCV attachment. I'm in Augusta Ga. 30907. These Fit LS1, LS2, or LS6.

Hey check my post we have the same problem. Valve cover flange won't fit between the roller rockers and ASM tubes. What I have discovered but don't particularly like is that if I leave the tubes a bit loose so I can move them a bit the stock valve covers will go on and there is room to get a #6 hex about 8 inches long into the bottom #6 hex bolt that ASM supplies with the Runners (I found a tool for this at Harbor Freight, it's a hex about 8 inches long with a 3/8 drive on the end). That solution requires loosening the tubes to remove the valve covers but does seem to work. I was just doing a test fit on all my parts today and discovered this.

as long as you can overcome the giant obstacle of having to drill a couple of holes you should be right !

Drill holes?!?!

Won't the car start to unravel like pulling a loose thread on a sweater?

I had the same problem with Edelbrock heads with roller rockers. I used these valve covers. It just cleared the wiper motor without any modifications.

Good Luck
