So my corvette was given to me about 2 months ago with some minor modifications (Magnaflow exhaust, Upgraded air intake). Since then iv'e been looking to add things to the car i.e.: Headers, A better Air intake, etc. But I also really want some electric cut outs. My dads 2010 Camaro has them on there and it sounds like a beast. Its really inspired me to put them on my car and I was wondering what installation is like and which ones i should get.
I'm running headers & dual exhaust to stock mufflers, w/electric cutouts from QTP. Very nice so far, though I wish I had gone with the low profile model. They hang a bit low (not much room to install them up under the C4) and I've tapped/scraped the turn-down ends at a few hard dips in the road...have to drive a lot more carefully now! Full flow on demand is great, though the volume in the car escalates so quickly I really only tend to run them 3-4 clicks open. Gives a nice rumble, but not too obnoxious and then when I enter the home neighborhood, I can drop the volume to (near) stock decibels with the flip of a switch.
Overall recommend, though go with their low profile version for a cleaner install.

What yourself with those jegs cutouts. They are a chinese knock off of ours. Cheap motors with plastic gears. Will fail quickly. Look at our low profile electric cutouts. They have better ground clearance. http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/OVAL/

If I could get a significant discount, I might go in on a group buy for a low profile set
How do the unit lengths compare, Quick Time, if you don't mind me asking? That is, if I was to cut my current pair out and weld in the new, would they fit in the same section of pipe, or would I need to alter the exhaust further? I'm running your standard 3" model.

I am interested... QTP shoot me a price for dual 3" automatic 1990 vette. The reason I ask is I'm not sure the best pipe orientation for these cars. Straight back, or down, side ways etc.
I have electric cut outs on my car. It's seems like the most popular placement is just after the rear suspension on the up turn of the exhaust. I welded two header flanges that I cut down to the exhaust. If you search YouTube for "c4 corvette cutouts" you'll see a good deal of videos including mine. I love the ability to be open piped when I want to be obnoxiously loud and then close them and run my mufflers.

So basically running them open will give you the sound of muffler elims?
From what I understand QTP is the best. I have been looking not for my Vette but for my M3. I found the straight pipes on the vette to be fine if keeping the center resonator.

Sounds like a lot of expense for the same sound
Well muffler elims would be opened pipped for me, as I have headers and no cats. I love open pipes but I still want to be able to drive my car on the highway. I had a 74 with sidepipes and the highway drone was tough to take after awhile. In stock form the cutouts give you the option to run cats only or stock mufflers at the flex of a switch. For me it was a no-brainer, two exhaust systems for a little extra $.
I have even seen cut outs used as one way for side pipes, one way for quiet exhaust. Truly two exhaust systems at the flick of a switch. Although That was on a c2.
