Not true. When the stall speed is 2400. This refers to how much the converter will flash to. This is a estimate only. It will change depending on the torque and hp output of the motor. The lock up is controled by the speed of the car and the throttle input. The stock mph setting is 41 or 43 mph and light throttle.
As far as someone making a 2400, I know vigilante has them, not sure about others.
vader what I'm asking is can I get a 2400 rpm stall converter and still retain the torque converter lock up. The stall speed and the Torque converter lock are two different functions. My understanding ( this could be wrong) is at WOT the converter does not lock up. On the 4L60E the lock-up is controlled by the ECM.
I hope I can get a 2400 stall converter and still retain the lock-up for lower RPMs at cruise speeds and better mileage. Also when the converter locks it keeps transmission temperatures down.
I see the converters in the catalogs with and without lock up for the 700R, but not for the 4L60E.
Yes...you can, as the 700R4/4L60 and 4L60E are made from the same parts, except for valve body and govenor.
In fact, it's hard to find ANY converter for a 700R4/4L60/E that does NOT have the lockup clutches. ( You can find non locking 700r4 converters though, and they are referred to as 'dummy' converters ).
