Default Top speed

Hey everyone, was just wondering if anyone happened to know about what the top speed is on the different C4 and C5 corvettes.
L98, LT1, ZR1, ZO6, LS1... etc. Thanks for any help.

Going from memory....

L83 : Not sure
L98 : 150-154 depending on year.
LT1 : 165-170 depending on tranny/gears.
LT4 : 175 I think
LT5 : 180-185
LS1 : 177 for 6-speed
LS6 : 172, runs outta gear & aerodynamics

Wouldn't it also depend on gearing? I know mine has the 3.54's and I think they went as low as 2.5*?

I thought 1989 was the only year to have 3.33s. No?

Corvette Black Book say 1990 came with 3.33, not sure about the rest.

2.59, 2.73, 3.07, 3.31 and 3.54 were available in '89. I always have my service manual handy :)

What did the 3.54s come on then? Was it part of Z51? As far as I knew 3.33 was the only 6-speed ratio for that year and then when ZR1 came out 3.54s were dropped in. Or did the 3.54s show up late in production?

Unfortunately I'm the second owner, so I can't tell you whether it was part of a package or not. I can tell you it was option coded as GH0. Mine was built in Oct of '88, so I don't think it was late in the production cycle, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure about when the cycles started / ended.

No 3.31 in 89. Not sure I've ever heard of a 3.31 in a C4.

Hand written note in the 1989 restoration package from GM

Dated Jan 10, 1989

Update concerning Standard Axle Ratio for 1989 corvettes:

All 1989 corvettes produced prior to (approx) Feb 6, 1989 with the Six (6) speed manual transmission will have a 3.54 Axle Ratio. All a989 Six Speed Manual corvettes produced after Feb 6, 1989 will have a 3.33 Standard Axle Ratio.

F.Y.I. only - THE 3.54 Axle Ratio will Be Standard on ZR1's
Know also that the 3.33 was standard for the 6 speed at least part of the way through 90 and probably further.

RPO for 3.33 is GT7 and is not listed in the 89 service manual, it comes with RPO G87 8.50" ring gear.

The 3.54 is RPO GHO, do you have GHO?

Yes, mine has RPO GH0.

I was just quoting the service manual, so I guess the 3.31 was a typo  oops. At least it's close to 3.33 lol

Yeah, I know the 3.31 is in the manual as RPO GW4, just never heard of anyone that had one?

You are the first GHO I have heard documented, glad to see the resto-pack seems to be correct!
